A video generated by Artificial Intelligence that is circulating online shows people running from the Bi-State Justice Building in downtown Texarkana.
It’s a fake video created to “mimic a real emergency and incite panic within the community,” the TexARKana Police Department said Tuesday afternoon in a news release.
“We want to assure the public that no such incident occurred, and there is no threat to public safety at this time,” the agency said in response to the AI-generated video.
TAPD urged its community to verify information through official sources before sharing; report suspicious content to TAPD; and understand that law enforcement will always community real threats or emergencies through trusted channels.
