Michael Alexander

Michael Quinn Alexander was born on April 4, 1965, in Gurdon, Arkansas, to Dorothy Hughes and Robert Louis Alexander Sr. He was educated in the Gurdon Public School District and graduated from Gurdon High School in 1984. 

Throughout his life, Michael was employed at various places including Anthony Timberland, Petit Jean Poultry, and Moore’s Automotive. Michael, affectionately known as “Red” or “Red Duke” had a great love for fishing, eating, watching his favorite football team, the Pittsburgh Steelers, and spending time with his family and friends. Known for his generous heart, he would give you the shirt off his back and his last dollar. If Red was happy, he wanted you to be happy too.

In his 60th season of life, on Monday, July 28, 2025, Michael peacefully slipped into eternal rest. He was preceded in death by his loving mother, Dorothy Hughes, and father, Robert Louis Alexander Sr.

Michael had an infectious smile and an unforgettable laugh that will be missed by many. Though he is physically no longer with us, his memory will live on forever in our hearts and minds. He leaves to cherish his memories his brothers, Robert Alexander, of Gurdon, AR and Rico Alexander of Rockford, IL; sister Yvonne Alexander of Rockford, IL;  Bonus Mother, Betty Jean Alexander, of Rockford, IL; Aunts Patsy Ann Gary, of Rockford, IL, and Annie Jean Lockhart, of Gurdon, AR; Uncle Willie Gary, of Gurdon, AR, and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. Special friends include, James Miller, Greg Henry, Tim Marks, Yodie Marks, and best friend Randy Bell Sr.

Funeral services are under the direction of Mitchell Funeral Home in Arkadelphia. The celebration of life was held Monday, August 4, 2025, at Mt. Cannan Baptist Church in Gurdon, AR where Rev. Johnny Harris is Pastor and served as eulogist. Michael’s wishes to be cremated following services will be honored. Please continue to pray and shower the family with love.
