A former interim prosecutor for the 9th West District has announced her intention to seek the position next year against embattled incumbent Jana Bradford of Glenwood.
Erin Hunter, a native of Newhope who currently serves as city attorney in De Queen, announced Monday that she will oppose her former boss and co-worker for the position, stating in a release, “The current lack of trust in the Prosecuting Attorney’s office is not only unacceptable, it puts public safety at risk. Our families deserve to know that justice is being pursued for the right reasons, not for political gain.”
Bradford has also announced her intentions to seek a second term as prosecutor. She worked as a deputy under two previous prosecutors, both of whom as now serving as circuit judges. She also worked a year under Hunter.
Hunter, who left Bradford’s office in 2024, called her campaign a way “to restore trust and integrity to the Prosecuting Attorney’s Office.
Bradford has faced numerous allegations regarding her conduct in representing her uncle, convicted pedophile Barry Walker, which included efforts to get him out of prison early after his first offense, an attempt to remove his sexual offender status and allegations that she used her position to dispute the claims of a 4-year-old Clark County girl whom Walker was later convicted of molesting. She currently faces a civil suit along with other family members in the case that has been continued until 2026.
