A 15-year-old Camden youth died from a drowning accident on the Ouachita River on Tuesday, June 17, 2025.
According to Camden Police Chief T.J. Robertson, the Camden police and fire departments were called to the Riverwalk Park at 12:41 p.m. for a report of a subject drowning. Upon arrival, witnesses directed officials to an area directly off of the dock, where they entered the water and located the victim within about 3-5 minutes after arrival.
First responders immediately began life-saving measures, which continued throughout transport to the Ouachita County Medical Center, where the victim was pronounced deceased.
The victim, whose name has not been released, was a student at Camden-Fairview High School.
The Camden Police Department said in a press release that the drowning is being treated as accidental but remains under investigation.
