Junior Douglas Hammonds, age 82, of Gurdon, passed from this life on Wednesday, June 11, 2025, at his home. He was born June 4, 1943, in Vaden, the son of the late J.D. and Mamie McClure Hammonds.
Junior was a United States Navy veteran of the Vietnam War. He was a retired truck driver and farmer. Junior enjoyed horse back riding in his free time.
He was preceded in death by his parents, his wife, Sharon Ann Hammonds and one brother, Henry Hammonds.
Survivors are two sons, J.D. Hammonds (Brooke) and Justin D. Hammonds (Tiffany) both of Gurdon, two daughters, Monica Messing (Tim) of Russellville and Michelle Kuykendall (Randy) of Murfreesboro, three brothers, William Hammonds (Brenda) of Gurdon, Lewis Hammonds (Phyllis) of Camden and Don Hammonds (Mary) of Alpena, eighteen grandchildren and twenty-two great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday June 14, 2025, At Welch Funeral Home with Bro. James McCain officiating.
Visitation will be from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday at Welch Funeral Home.
Interment with military honors will be in Easley Cemetery at Gurdon.
Pallbearers are grandsons, Codi, Logan, Beau, Evan, Cole, Jacob and Julian.
