The highest flood stage along the Ouachita River at Camden in 37 years is expected during the afternoon of Wednesday, April 9, 2025.
A crest of 43 feet is forecast by the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
At 5:30 a.m. Tuesday, the stage was 40.9 feet. Flood stage is 26 feet. The record crest for the river at Camden is 46 feet.
Recent torrential rains in central and west central Arkansas have swelled creeks and other tributaries in the Ouachita River watershed.
The Ouachita River Bridge on 79B in Camden has been closed by the Arkansas Department of Transportation as a precaution. This bridge links downtown Camden with the U.S. 79-278 interchange near Camden Municipal Airport.
Arkansas 7 north of Camden to just south of Sparkman is closed to all but local traffic.
