First Presbyterian Church presenting series on emotional well-being

Special to arkadelphian.com

This February and March, First Presbyterian Church (FPC) invites the community to engage in a special series of conversations focused on emotional well-being.

As part of FPC’s ongoing mission to nurture spiritual fellowship, promote worship, and eliminate social injustice, it is offering practical tools and insights to support emotional health alongside spiritual care. These sessions reflect FPC’s commitment to using the gifts God has so graciously given us to exhibit the Kingdom of God both in our community and the world beyond.

“Our first two sessions in the fall focused on building self-care into our lives and navigating conflict effectively,” said Pastor Jason Smith. “These foundational discussions reminded us of the importance of taking intentional steps toward personal growth and fostering healthier relationships. As we move into the next two sessions, we’ll turn our attention to managing stress and anxiety—challenges that deeply affect many of us. Through our faith in Jesus, we believe that fear does not have the final word, but we also recognize how profoundly the pressures of the world weigh on each of us. Together, we can support one another on this journey to find peace and resilience.

“At FPC, we believe that balancing emotional, spiritual, and physical care is essential to living the holistic life God intends for us. These sessions provide a valuable opportunity for our congregation and the broader community to come together, learn from one another, and grow in understanding. We’re excited to continue this series and invite everyone to join us as we explore these meaningful and transformative topics.”

Join FPC for an evening of fellowship, dinner, and meaningful conversation. This series again will be led by Beverly J. Bejarano, Licensed Professional Counselor and friend of FPC. These sessions are made possible by a generous grant from the Presbytery of Arkansas’ Future of the Church Committee.

Understanding and Managing Anxiety

Anxiety affects many of us, often in ways we don’t fully understand. This session will offer practical approaches to recognizing and managing anxiety in everyday life. We’ll explore techniques such as grounding exercises, mindfulness practices, and cognitive reframing to help calm the mind and navigate anxious moments with greater ease. (Free dinner provided)

FPC’s mission is to proclaim the gospel of salvation through Jesus Christ, as understood in the Reformed tradition. By nurturing spiritual fellowship and providing spaces for personal growth, we work together to reflect the Kingdom of God in all we do.
