7 Clark County inmates parole-eligible in January

As of Dec. 31, 2024, there were 317 people listed as Clark County inmates by the Arkansas Department of Corrections website.

There are 12 fewer Clark County inmates since December began. The inmates are distributed among several institutions throughout the state.

There are 22 Clark County inmates serving life sentences or life without parole.

The total includes 292 men and 21 women. There are 161 black inmates, 151 white inmates and five of other races.

The following Clark County inmates have a parole- or transfer-eligible date in January 2025, although there are several factors that could affect any individual release for months or years.

Charles Alsabrook, 49, is serving 18 months at the Ouachita River Correctional Unit in Malvern for a conviction of possession of a controlled substance and possession of drug paraphernalia, a case filed in 2020. Alsabrook became the target of a Group 6 Narcotics Unit investigation prompted by a complaint of possible drug activity at his residence in Gurdon. A drop-in visit led an agent to find methamphetamine and paraphernalia inside the home. Alsabrook was sentenced in October 2024.

Dustin Kidwell, 40, is serving a 15-year stint at the Grimes Unit in Newport for a 2022 fleeing charge in Benton County. The charge violated Kidwell’s active parole for drug and firearm charges in Boone County in 2015 and 2012, respectively. Kidwell had served a prior probation sentence in Clark County in 2005 for forgery.

Sharah Breanne Lacy, 28, is serving 16 years at the McPherson Unit in Newport for robbery. Lacy was one of four people involved in a September 2016 armed robbery at Arkadelphia Sonic, where two masked individuals approached employees outside the restaurant around closing time, demanding money at gunpoint. Following the arrest of two suspects at nearby 11th and Haddock streets, an investigation revealed that Lacy’s involvement was being the getaway driver. She also purchased the masks at the local Walmart. Two other individuals — Jaylon Jones and Jonathan Whitmore, the gunmen — were also charged in connection with the robbery. A search of the ADC database indicates they have since been released from prison.

Ricky McClure, 31, is serving a 3-year sentence at the Ouachita River Correction Unit in Malvern for convictions of drug possession and breaking or entering in Dallas and Ouachita counties, respectively. McClure served a prior probation sentence in Clark County in 2015 for a drug possession charge.

John Nichols, 51, is serving 8 years at the Tucker Unit for commercial burglary in Hot Spring County. He was convicted and sentenced in January 2023. The charge revoked parole or probation for a prior conviction of residential burglary in Hot Spring County as well as a commercial burglary case for which he was charged in Clark County in 2021.

Deon Thompson, 31, is doing 3 years at the Ester Unit for a charge and subsequent conviction of aggravated assault on a family or household member. Thompson was arrested in February 2024 following a female’s complaint that, after being told to leave her residence, he went to a vehicle and retrieved a loaded handgun, which he cocked in front of her, then attacked her. During the attack he took possession of her phone and retreated to the vehicle. The female, in an attempt to retrieve her phone, ran to the vehicle, where Thompson maced her in the face and fled in the vehicle. The new charge revoked a 2022 case of fourth-degree sexual assault in Faulkner County.

Cornelius K. Waters, 34, is serving 10 years at the East Arkansas Regional Unit in Brickeys for a 2023 drug possession charge in Saline County. The charge and subsequent conviction revoked a prior parole or probation for a 2020 firearm charge in Garland County. Waters had served a prior prison sentence for a 2009 case in Clark County, where he was convicted of robbery and battery charges.
