The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, Nov. 18
3:14 p.m.
Officers were called to Powder Mill Apartments, 2801 Twin Rivers Dr., for a complaint of harassment by a neighbor. Police spoke with both parties, telling them to stop speaking to one another, and advised them to consult the prosecuting attorney’s office about a no-contact order.
Tuesday, Nov. 19
12:47 a.m.
Following a traffic stop for an obstructed license plate and other observed traffic violations, Anthony Jaral Balch, 27, of Arkadelphia, was arrested at 26th and Pine streets for marijuana possession, driving with a suspended license, no liability insurance, driving left of center, improper lane change and improper display of vehicle license. The arresting officer smelled marijuana as he approached the vehicle and, given consent to search Balch’s person, found the substance in the pocket of a hooded sweatshirt.

Wednesday, Nov. 20
3:15 p.m.
An 11th Street man reported he was the recipient of a death threat. He only knew the suspect by his first name. He was told to call police should he have any further issues with the person.

11:20 p.m.
A resident of Pine Courts Apartments, 120 N. 20th St., reported a group of about six juveniles were looking into her window. Before officers were able to make it to the scene, a neighbor phoned to report that she and her children had been threatened by the first caller. Police spoke with both parties and advised of affidavit procedures.
Thursday, Nov. 21
5:59 p.m.
Officers were called to Walmart for a report of a pair of shoplifters who had been detained and suspected of stealing from other stores in the area. It was noted in the report that the shoplifters spoke very little English. Citations for theft of property were issued to Abraham Ricardo Garcia, 41, and Laura Garcia Palenca, 42. No address or town of residence was included in the report. Both were held at the local jail until they could be identified by their fingerprints.
9:51 p.m.
Police and firefighters were dispatched to 650 S. 5th St. for a large fire in the parking lot. Police observed several pieces of furniture ablaze outside one of the apartments. A resident told police she heard a neighbor say he was tired of seeing the mess outside and that it just needed to burn. Firefighters tried unsuccessfully to contact the neighbor. Another witness told police he observed the resident standing around the furniture pile on the previous day, with a small section on fire. The fire department advised it would continue the investigation.

Saturday, Nov. 23
12:31 p.m.
Officers were summoned to a residence at the 1400 block of Pecan Street for a domestic disturbance. The listed victim told police he’d been beaten by his wife and showed them video of the altercation. Scratch marks on his chest coincided with his account. Paula Ruth Passmore, 34, was taken into custody for third-degree domestic battery.

3:23 p.m.
A Vaden woman reported someone used her bank information to order a metal roof carport kit from Amazon. She contacted Amazon about the $630 purchase and learned that delivery had been made between Nov. 13-15 to an address in New Castle, Indiana. She also notified law enforcement there.
Thursday, Nov. 21
2:45 p.m.
A deputy was summoned to The Pentecostal Church on Country Club Road, where a caller advised than an occupied truck was blocking the driveway and the driver was huffing something from a can. An Arkadelphia officer arrived to find 34-year-old Tyler Gray, of Malvern, unconscious with the vehicle in drive and a can of duster in his hand. The officer roused Gray and instructed him to exit the vehicle and sit on the tailgate until a paramedic could check on him. The deputy arrived and took inventory of the truck, finding five cans of duster. Gray was arrested for public intoxication.
Friday, Nov. 22
10:26 a.m.
A Sticky Road, Gurdon, man reported three fraudulent $86 transactions to his bank account, each made to a Champs Sports website. Customer service told him to request a police report in order to begin the refund process, and advised that the packages were en route to an address in Delaware.
6:39 p.m.
A Mt. Morriah Road man reported his wife grabbed and hurt his arm and leg, both of which were in splints from a previous injury, then left the residence. His parents had arrived to take him to the hospital. As the deputy was taking information, the wife, Alison Rebecca Heard, 30, returned to retrieve her car and gave her account of the disturbance, denying it had turned physical. She went inside the residence while the deputy remained with the husband. A commotion inside sent the deputy to investigate, and he found Heard struggling on top of her mother-in-law, Coral Denise Heard, 55, of Donaldson. The two were separated, and both suffered injuries to their face. After questioning both ladies, each were cited for third-degree battery. Allison was taken to jail, while Coral was taken to the hospital.
Sunday, Nov. 24
8:55 p.m.
A deputy was dispatched to Interstate 30 after a complaint of a reckless driver traveling over 100 mph and running cars off the highway. The deputy stationed himself at the Gum Springs on-ramp, where he clocked a Toyota Camry with Texas plates (matching the vehicle description and plates) traveling at 84 mph. The subsequent traffic stop yielded marijuana, THC wax, methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia. The driver, Jason Shane Stubblefield, 48, of Carrollton, Texas, was arrested for pending drug charges.
