Arkadelphia’s First Baptist Church will offer a special one-day session of the grief support ministry, GriefShare, from 2-4 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 24, on “Surviving the Holidays.”
The session, free and open to anyone who has experienced the loss of a loved one, features an information-packed video seminar on common concerns of grieving during the holidays. Guided discussion among participants follows the video.
“Thanksgiving and Christmas can be painful when you are grieving a loved one’s death,” said Brenda Sutley, one of FBC’s GriefShare team members. “We want to help you survive, and even enjoy, the next holiday.
Sunday’s session will be held inside the FBC Education Building, off the church’s south parking lot, in room 114. Register or find more information at www.GriefShare.org. Participants are advised to enter off Eighth Street. Walk-ins are welcome.
Holiday cookies, spiced cider and hot chocolate will be served.
First Baptist will soon complete its third year of GriefShare. A more in-depth 13-week program ended on Monday, Nov. 11.
GriefShare encourages participants to experience a “journey from mourning to joy.” It’s also based on the idea that grief lingers for months and even years after a loss of a loved one.
