The Hot Springs, Arkadelphia and Malvern (H.A.M) Alumni Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc., presented a monetary donation of $1,000 to the Jackson House, 705 Malvern Ave., Hot Springs, on Nov. 1, 2024.

Each year, the senior Kappas H.A.M. partner with a local nonprofit organization that shares their vision of providing support to those in need in Garland and Clark County, specifically the senior population.

The Jackson House mission of providing short-term emergency assistance for basic needs such as food, clothing, shelter and medicine, was selected this year to receive the donation.

“Our senior citizens continue to have a tough time with having enough resources to adequately support themselves,” said Herman Thomas, chair of the Senior Kappa Committee of H.A.M. “They have been hit especially hard by current socio-economic conditions, so we hope that our donation to the Jackson House will help meet some of their basic needs during the holiday season.”

Thomas also serves as chairman for the 5-state region of Kappa Alpha Psi, Inc. Lon Ware is the chapter president.
