Dispatch Desk: Oct. 21-27

The following incidents were gathered from reports filed at the Arkadelphia Police Department and Clark County Sheriff’s Office. Names of arrested individuals were collected at the Clark County Detention Center on Crittenden Street in Arkadelphia. They are presumed innocent until found guilty in a court of law. The Arkadelphian does not withhold names from the arrest log, so don’t even think about asking.

Monday, Oct. 21
1:45 p.m.
A woman reported that she had been duped out of more than $1,000 by a caller claiming to be an Arkansas Department of Corrections officer who threatened to put her nephew, an inmate, in isolation or cause him physical harm if she didn’t send $600 via CashApp. She complied, then later sent two other transactions totaling $425.

Tuesday, Oct. 22

Juvenile report: Possession of a Schedule VI Controlled Substance

11:04 a.m.
An officer took a harassment complaint from a man who said an unknown individual left threatening comments on his social media posts.

6:28 p.m.
Police were dispatched to 317 Caddo St. for a physical altercation between two females. After talking with both parties, Alexis Kathleen King, 21, was arrested at the scene for third-degree domestic battery. The other female, King’s employer, suffered injuries to the back of her head during the scuffle; she was transported to Baptist Health Medical Center. The fight started as a verbal altercation apparently stemming from a disagreement between the two ladies.

8:50 p.m.
An officer took a report of a private property accident at a Thompson Road apartment complex, where a resident’s vehicle went out of gear and rolled downhill, striking another unoccupied vehicle and causing minor damages.

8:57 p.m.
Officers responded to a domestic disturbance at the 2300 block of Country Club Road, where two sisters got into a physical altercation. One fled the scene prior to police arrival, and the other gathered her belongings and left. No arrest was made.

Wednesday, Oct. 23
10:45 a.m.
A woman reported her signature had likely been forged. She provided police with two separate quotes for services from Arkansas Monument Company that possessed two different signatures from her own. It was unknown who signed her name on the documents or whether services were rendered.

Police opened a felony case of meth/cocaine possession at the 1000 block of Main Street. No other details were provided as the incident remained under investigation.

Sunday, Oct. 27

Police investigated a second-degree battery at the 600 block of 5th Street. Additional details were not included in the felony incident, which remains under investigation.

9:43 a.m.
Police took a report from a female who said her recent ex had struck her in the face at a Lark Place residence. Officers stood by as belongings were gathered at their shared Main Street residence, and were unable to locate the male suspected of the abuse.

1 p.m.
A resident at the 1800 block of Clinton Street reported an attempted break-in after discovering damage to a storm door. She was advised her home would be added to extra patrol.

5:04 p.m.
Officers were summoned to Walmart for a complaint of a shoplifters taking a scarecrow decoration valued at $10. En route to the store police were advised the trio had left in a black pickup truck. An officer observed the vehicle leaving Walmart, followed it east on Pine Street and conducted a traffic stop at Circle K. Citations were given to three 18-year-old Ouachita Baptist University students: Landon Paul Dehn, of Wylie Texas; Michael Stephen Higgens, of Dallas, Texas; and Walker Boyd Bridenstine, of Tulsa, Oklahoma.

Wednesday, Oct. 23
9:18 p.m.
Deputies were called to a residence at 5207 Highway 26, Okolona, for a domestic disturbance turned physical. The 911 caller, Kyle Herron, 35, reported he was bitten during the altercation. Deputies spoke with both Herron and the female, who showed evidence of physical injury. After taking statements from both parties, Herron was taken into custody for charges of third-degree domestic battery.

Thursday, Oct. 24
9:17 a.m.
A Millcreek Loop man reported a neighbor had shot his dog. A deputy went to the suspect’s home but learned that he was at work. His wife, however, relayed that the dog was shot out of fear that it would attack their child, and that the dog’s owner had been told three times before to keep the dog away from their residence. No further action was taken.

Friday, Oct. 25
12:32 p.m.
A deputy responded to a Richardson Road, Amity, residence after getting a tip that a possibly armed individual would be arriving there. With the assistance of an Amity officer, lawmen arrived in the area to find the suspect’s unoccupied Jeep Gladiator parked near the residence. As the deputy exited his patrol car to investigate, Gary Holt, 53, of Glenwood, appeared from behind his Jeep, carrying an AR-15 rifle. Deputy Robbie Plyler drew his weapon and commanded Holt to the ground; Holt, also armed with a holstered 9mm handgun, didn’t immediately comply but did set the rifle down and laid on his stomach after repeated commands. He was taken into custody without further incident on police charges of terroristic threatening, criminal trespass and public intoxication. Deputy Plyler spoke with the homeowner, who relayed that Holt had made death threats several months ago.

Saturday, Oct. 26
10:25 a.m.
A group of runners reported the theft of a backpack, which had been left on the trunk of a vehicle parked at Arkansas Highway 7 and Witherspoon Road. The complainant said they hadn’t intended on being away from their starting point for very long. One friend who stayed behind apparently dozed off, but was awakened to witness a blonde female in her 40s take the backpack and drive away in her own maroon Honda Accord down Witherspoon. She later dropped the backpack in the middle of the road but apparently kept a key fob. She was last sighted at the railroad crossing on Witherspoon, where a rail crew said a vehicle matching that description went through the area at a high rate of speed.

Sunday, Oct. 27
6:20 p.m.
A deputy was summoned to the 3200 block of Highway 7 South for a complaint of a neighbor’s horse on the loose and damaging an electric fence. Contact was made with the horse’s owner, who was advised to keep his equine contained on his own property.
