The 44th annual Gurdon Forest Festival is set for Saturday, Oct. 26, 2024.
This free community event features vendors, crafts, games, rides, inflatables, train rides and more.
Prior to the festival, on Saturday, Oct. 5, the Forest Festival Pageant will be held at the Cabe Auditorium. Doors open at 5:30 p.m., and the event begins at 6:30 p.m. Admission is $5.
On the morning of the festival, Gurdon Junior High’s cheerleaders will host a Pink Out Cheer for the Cure 5K at the Gurdon High School football stadium. That event begins at 8 a.m., and participants should arrive by 7:30 a.m. Early registration, due by Oct. 18, is $20, or $25 for walk-ups. The festival officially kicks off with a parade in downtown at 10 a.m.
Clark County’s finest lumberjacks will show off their skills in a log-loader contest that starts at 11 a.m.
A car show featuring various modes of awe-inspiring transportation will begin at 9 a.m. and last until mid afternoon. For more information on that event call Freddie at 870-451-4288 or Terry at 870-403-8467.
A Halloween costume contest, for ghouls and goblins of all ages, commences at 3 p.m., with a dog costume contest following.
A kids’ dance party will kick off sometime around 5 p.m. and ring in a live performance from local group Sometimes Sideways, who will take the stage at 7 p.m.
Unless otherwise noted, Forest Festival activities will take place in downtown Gurdon.
