Before college football was a mega industry, the sport had OG coaching legends that changed the way that the game was played.
One such person? Paul William “Bear” Bryant who was born in Moro Bottom in southern Cleveland County near New Edinburg in 1913.
Bryant is considered one of the greatest college football coaches of all time.
As head coach of the University of Alabama football team from 1958 to 1982, Bryant became a sports legend and a celebrity known for his trademark black and white houndstooth hat, or a plaid one, carrying his game plan rolled up on the sidelines.
