Officers were summoned to the I-30 west on ramp to check on a female laying on the roadside. Contact was made with Marsha Renae Dodson, 56, of Delight, who relayed that a sibling had struck her in the head and left her at Walmart. Dodson opted for a check by medics and was placed in the back seat of the officer’s car to wait on their arrival; in the meantime she exited the vehicle to relieve herself at the on ramp but was told she would have to wait or accept a courtesy transport to the hospital, which she accepted. Checked in at the ER she was advised to stay at the hospital until she was sober, or go to jail. About three hours later police were called to the hospital because Dodson had left with an IV port still in her arm.
