Rain showers this Labor Day weekend should bring some relief for a sizzling South Arkansas, according to the National Weather Service in Little Rock.
Showers and thunderstorms are likely in Arkadelphia before 8 p.m. Friday, Aug. 30. However, any strong storms in Arkansas on Friday are expected to be confined to the northwestern half of the state.
More storms are possible Saturday afternoon for the readership area, with a muggy heat index value around 98°F. Saturday night could see additional thunderstorms.
The highest chance of precipitation and stormy weather comes Sunday, at 70%. But along with the mostly cloudy skies, daytime highs should be in the mid 80s Sunday and for the next several days.
There is a 20% chance of showers and thunderstorms for Labor Day, which is also expected to be mostly cloudy.
