Tesla Fest returns to Mid-America Science Museum July 13

Mid-America Science Museum recently announced the return of its annual event, Tesla Fest, set for Saturday, July 13, 2024, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. Celebrating the life and legacy of the inventor Nikola Tesla, Tesla Fest is included with general admission and offers attendees interactive activities and educational opportunities for all ages.

“This year’s Tesla Fest marks a special occasion as we celebrate Nikola Tesla’s 168th birthday,” said Diane LaFollette, CEO of Mid-America Science Museum. “It’s more than just an event; it’s a pivotal moment for us to engage the community with the profound impact of Tesla’s innovations. A special thanks to our sponsor for helping us continue to inspire curiosity and ignite a passion for science and technology.”

Supported by Resort TV Cable, Tesla Fest provides guests the opportunity to participate in a Tesla-themed scavenger hunt where the first 100 participants receive a commemorative Tesla Fest button. These buttons will also be awarded to winners of the “Dress Like Your Favorite Scientist” contest, and the 168th visitor to the museum will receive either a Tesla Fest T-shirt or onesie.

Mid-America’s Tinkering Studio will feature Tesla-themed activities such as snap circuits, x-rays on lightboxes, and discovery tables with interactive displays detailing Tesla’s scientific achievements. Demonstrations of the “War of the Currents” and the Electric Pickle experiment will showcase scientific concepts pioneered by Tesla.

Attendees will have the opportunity to view science shows in the Dorothy Van Lue & Albert F.W. Habeeb Tesla Theater, home of the World’s Most Powerful Conical Tesla Coil. The Oaklawn Foundation Digital Dome Theater will showcase high-definition presentations, offering visitors a chance to immerse themselves in Hot Springs’ only digital planetarium. Guests will also have the opportunity to take selfies with a life-size image of Tesla, complete with fake mustaches while supplies last.
