Clark County jobless rate improves in April

Clark County’s unemployment rate, not seasonally adjusted, is at 3.6% for April 2024, according to a preliminary county-by-county report released by the Arkansas Division of Workforce Services.

According to the report, Clark County had a labor force of 8,715 persons with 8,398 employed and 317 unemployed in April. This compares to March’s labor force of 8,449 with 8,099 employed and 350 unemployed. The unemployment rate in Clark County fell five-tenths of a percentage point from 4.1% in March.

Regionally, Clark County’s employment rate showed an improvement in April, as it now reports the fourth-lowest unemployment rate in the seven-county area surveyed; it had for several months prior ranked second-highest.

Statewide, Arkansas’s unemployment rate fell an additional one-tenth of a percentage point to 3.4% in April, and the national jobless rate increased one-tenth of a percentage point to 4%.

The unemployment rate for Dallas County (Fordyce) is at 3.9% in April, down from 4% in March. Dallas County reports a labor force of 2,638.

The unemployment rate for Hot Spring County (Malvern) is at 3.3% in April, down from 3.6% in March. Hot Spring County reports a labor force of 13,746.

The unemployment rate for Montgomery County (Mt. Ida) is at 4.4% in April, down from 4.7% in March. Montgomery County reports a labor force of 3,051.

The unemployment rate for Nevada County (Prescott) is at 3.5% in April, down from 3.6% in March. Nevada County reports a labor force of 3,261.

The unemployment rate for Ouachita County (Camden) is at 3.8% in April, down from 4% in March. Ouachita County reports a labor force of 9,627.

The unemployment rate for Pike County (Murfreesboro) is at 3% in April, down from 3.4% in March. Pike County reports a labor force of 4,082.
