
An early morning car crash Sunday on Interstate 30 left a Hope woman dead and a TEXarkana man injured.
According to a preliminary fatal crash summary by Arkansas State Police, Xavier D. Stewart, 30, of TEXarkana, was traveling west in a 2013 Chrysler near the 23 mile-marker in rural Hempstead County when he exited the roadway to the right and collided with a tree.
Stewart’s passenger, 21-year-old Nakhia Javon Booker, of Hope, was pronounced deceased at the scene.
Stewart was transported to Christus St. Michael’s Hospital in TEXarkana for treatment to injuries not listed in the report.
The accident happened at 3:55 a.m. June 9, 2024, under clear skies. Investigating Trooper Akari Alexander noted dry road conditions at the time of the accident.
