Following a week of heavy rain, South Arkansas is due for a pleasant weekend.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock is forecasting sunny skies with highs in the upper 70s for the Arkadelphia area Friday through Sunday. The weekend could be a windy one, however. Saturday and Sunday, 10-15 mph winds will be coming from the southwest, with gusts as high as 20-30 mph, according to the NWS.
Expect cloudy skies Sunday night, followed by more chances of showers and thunderstorms during the early part of next week. A powerful storm system will track from the central Plains to the upper Midwest early next week. Ahead of the system, severe weather is possible in parts of Arkansas late Monday into Tuesday.
