Faye Hughes

Faye Hughes, age 84, a long-time resident of Bismarck, passed from this life on Monday, March 11, 2024.

Faye was a loving wife, mother, grandmother (known by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as “Nana”), daughter, sister, aunt and friend.  Faye loved her family and was always quick with a story about her grandkids and great-grandkids. Faye was a member of DeRoche Missionary Baptist church. Faye enjoyed the outdoors and spending time at home with her family. Faye also enjoyed spending time hunting & fishing with her husband Ray. Faye loved gardening and took great pride in her gardens & flowers. And Faye would rarely pass a thrift store without stopping and shopping.  

Faye was preceded in death by her parents (Leo & Pearl Loy), two children (Edward Don Slaughterbeck and Kathy Davis), and six siblings (Sue, Shirley, Mary, Truman, Diane, and Allen).

Survivors are her husband of 21 years, Ray Hughes, of Bismarck, one daughter, Sheila Hooper (Jeff) of Jessieville, one step-daughter, LaRae Bradford (Jack) of Russelville, 10 grandchildren/step-grandchildren, Paris “Lee” (Deidre), Brent (Emily), Brittany (Daniel), Mallory (James), Colton (Jessica), Jerry (Melissa), Robert (Chrissy), Josh, Clay (Jessica), and Bethany (Ryan), and 26 great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Chris Morrison officiating.

Visitation will be held 5 to 7 p.m. on Thursday, March 14, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home. 

Interment will be in Hickory Grove Cemetery at Bismarck.

Pallbearers are Jerry Bradford, Robert Bradford, Josh Bradford, Clay Bradford, Colton Hooper and Brent Davis.

Honorary pallbearers are Paris Davis, Jeff Hooper, and Jack Bradford.

The family would like to give special thanks to Faye’s caregiver, Delores Rutherford.
