City officials in Arkadelphia recently learned one of the motors that pressurizes the water system is no longer operational. This could lead to lower water pressures which could be dangerous should a fire occur that needs extinguishing.

While city officials work to address this issue, residents can conserve water in the following ways:

The City of Arkadelphia Water Utility Department would like to thank customers for their patience and understanding as they work to address this issue.

Any resident who sees running water from a leaking pipe is asked to call the emergency number at 870-403-1888.

The city said it will release more information on Monday, January 22.

Sparkman area without water

In neighboring Dallas County, residents of Sparkman and surrounding communities have been without water since Wednesday, with others in the area losing water on Thursday.

Significant leaks in water mains, and locating those leaks, are reportedly to blame for the issue.

Sparkman water customers are part of the River Valley Water System, whose supplier is the City of Arkadelphia.
