Kathy Cox

Linda Kathy Cox, age 77, of Arkadelphia, passed from this life on Sunday, January 7, 2024, at Arkansas Hospice in CHI St. Vincent’s Hospital in Hot Springs.  She was born November 5, 1946, in Arkadelphia, the daughter of the late Walter “Doc” and Betty Jo McElhannon May.  

Kathy was a 1964 graduate of Gurdon High School.  She worked from home while raising three children.  Kathy attended Third Street Baptist Church.  

She is preceded in death by her parents, and one daughter, Stephanie Karmen Cox.

Kathy was a lifelong member of Davidson Methodist Campground.  She thoroughly enjoyed camp meeting with her family and friends.  She and her husband, Larry, enjoyed retirement by traveling the country in their motorhome for eight years.  Kathy was an avid reader and loved watching her grandkids play basketball, baseball, lacrosse and volleyball.  She and Larry also looked forward to their monthly lunch date with the retired Farm Bureau agents of Southwest Arkansas.  Kathy also had a love for camping.  She was raised on Lake Greeson, camping and water skiing.  Kathy spent many summers on Lake DeGray after their son, Wade, started water skiing.

Kathy is survived by her husband of fifty-nine years, Larry Cox, one son, Wade Cox (Lisa Kyser) of Malibu, CA, one daughter, Meredith Owens (Fred) of Arkadelphia, four grandchildren, Anne Marie Cox of Tallahassee, FL, Davis Cox of Orlando, FL, Gabe Owens and Emma Owens both of Arkadelphia.  Her two lap dogs, Marley and Peanut will miss her too.

A memorial service will be held at 10:00 AM Friday, January 12, 2024, at Welch Funeral Home with Bro. Greg Lathem officiating.
