Don’t let the summer heat keep your family stuck in front of the air-conditioner this Independence Day — stay cool at the Arkadelphia Aquatic Park this Tuesday, July 4.
The pool has a lineup of special events and activities on July 4th.
Beginning at noon there will be an Invisi-Bottle Search to see who can find the clear bottle int he pool first.
Following that will be the Slide Race, beginning at 1 p.m., to see who can go down the blue slide the fastest.
As the afternoon gets hotter, the fun gets colder: contestants in the T-shirt Race, at 2 p.m., will race to see who can fit themselves into a frozen shirt.
Fun during the 3 o’clock hour will turn to Sharks & Minnows, a contest to see who will make it the longest without getting tagged by the shark (no worries: this “shark” doesn’t have teeth).
Make a splash! Head over to the diving board at 4 p.m. and give the deep end your best shot: the contest here is to see who can make the biggest splash.
Wrapping up the afternoon’s events will be the Watermelon Race. Beginning at 5 p.m. pool staff will slather up a watermelon in baby oil and toss it in the water. Contestants will race across the pool, pushing the melon without the use of their hands.
There will be door prizes given away at every hour.
Admission to the park is $10 for swimmers 48 inches and taller and $8 for shorter swimmers.
