Tiger Mart set to re-open in Arkadelphia

By JOEL PHELPS | The Arkadelphian

An Arkadelphia convenience store that was razed in early 2022 to make way for the widening of Pine Street is set to re-open its doors in a new building adjacent to the original lot at 10th and Pine streets.

Tiger Mart Exxon is expected to be open at 7 a.m. Saturday, July 1, said Randy Dixon, owner and operator of three local Exxon stations.

“It looks like it’s coming together,” Dixon told The Arkadelphian on Wednesday afternoon after we’d inquired on several occasions as to when the business would be ready.

The new and improved Tiger Mart will serve Pop’s Pizza, Dixon said, as well as a full variety of Community coffee, cold coffee and bean-to-cup coffee. The fuel station remains under the ownership of the Glenwood-based Blackmon Oil Co.

According to building permits kept by the city of Arkadelphia’s Building Department, Tiger Mart station cost an estimated $800,000 to construct.

Addressing loyal customers, Dixon said, “Thank you for being patient with us and we look forward to taking care of our customers really soon. Please bear with us if we have any problems at first, as it may take us a while to work the kinks out.”

Asked about previous talks of an acquisition by SQRL, Dixon said that deal “fell through, and I really don’t know why. SQRL is not coming to our local Exxon stations anytime soon.”
