Approximately 70 community members joined at noon Thursday with the Arkadelphia Fire Department to reenact a 400-year-old ritual performed by fire departments around the world when they put a new engine into service.
More minorities and women became primary operators of farms and ranches in the past decade as the total number of farms and ranches across the nation decreased by about 3 percent.
The university began giving the award in 2001 to honor those behind the scenes.
This year’s theme will be Innovators, Thinkers and Tinkerers, with a curriculum that focuses on technology in medicine.
