A Nevada County man died Friday, Feb. 17, after an accident involving an 18-wheeler.
Junior Hale, 79, of Prescott, was killed at 7:24 p.m. on U.S. Highway 67 near Gurdon. According to a fatal crash summary filed by the Arkansas State Police, Hale was the passenger of a 2019 Ford Ranger that entered the highway from Little Moe’s liquor store and in front of a northbound 2019 Freightliner.
Injured in the collision was 58-year-old Victoria Hale, also of Prescott, who was listed in the report as the driver of the Ford Ranger. Both were transported to St. Vincent Hospital, where Junior Hale was pronounced deceased at 6:37 p.m.
The report notes that the driver of the Freightliner attempted to avoid the collision by veering into the southbound lane but was unable to do so before colliding with the front bumper of the Hales’ vehicle.
Weather and road conditions were listed as clear and dry, according to Trooper Jackson Daniell who investigated the accident.
