The Ben M. Elrod Center for Family and Community at Ouachita Baptist University held its 50th Tiger Serve Day on Saturday, April 2, when more than 730 Ouachita students, faculty and staff gathered to complete 91 service projects at homes, nonprofits and churches across Arkadelphia.

Local law enforcement has been made aware of telephone scams by persons attempting to impersonate state and federal law enforcement agencies. Prosecuting Attorney Dan Turner wants to remind the public to always be on the lookout for scam artists.

Health Department urges precautions during tick, mosquito season

Arkansas has some of the highest rates in the nation for tick-borne diseases, such as Rocky Mountain Spotted Fever (RMSF), Ehrlichiosis, and Tularemia. Additionally, Anaplasmosis, Lyme disease, Heartland virus, Bourbon virus, and other diseases may also be carried by ticks. Mosquitoes in Arkansas can carry West Nile Virus and other less common diseases.

A Logan Street woman reported a known male arrived at her house and started swearing, then proceeded to grab her can of soda and pour it onto her head before entering her home. The suspect had fled the sticky situation prior to police arrival.
