What started as a single but gnarly accident Saturday morning on Interstate 30 led to a chain reaction of car wrecks that left traffic on the highway stalled for 3.5 hours.
According to a preliminary fatal crash summary report filed by Arkansas State Police, 48-year-old Earnest Lewis, of Camden, was driving a northbound 2005 Cadillac when he “veered to the left side of the road and struck a fence.”
The Arkadelphia Police Department has a “strict, zero-tolerance” policy when it comes to distracted driving in school zones, said Police Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson. “Distracted driving endangers us all,” he told The Arkadelphian, “and I remind everyone that especially around the school zones we have a strict zero-tolerance policy.”
According to a fatal crash summary filed by Arkansas State Police, 23-year-old Erin T. Williams was the passenger of a Ford Expedition and “for unknown reasons … fell out [of the vehicle] while in motion.”
