The latest U.S. Drought Monitor map, released June 2, shows improvement in drought conditions in some portions of Arkansas over the past two weeks.
The National Weather Service in Little Rock said recent rainfall has allowed for some improvement in drought conditions across the state, with the most widespread improvements across portions of north-central to northeastern Arkansas.
Unfortunately for Southwest Arkansas, the two-week comparison shows no improvement in drought conditions. Most of Clark County remains in Extreme Drought, with some portions in Severe Drought.
Chances for precipitation are in the forecast this weekend, with the greatest chance happening Sunday, with a 90% chance for showers and possibly a thunderstorm.
