AHS ag teacher talks FFA to retired educators

Clark County Retired Teachers heard from Robert “Sammy” Cox, the Arkadelphia High School Agri Teacher. Cox was excited to come back to Clark County to re-establish the agriculture program at AHS which would give non college students an avenue to go. Classes this year covered electricity, veterinary science, wild life and poultry. He had 105 students in shop this year from 9th to 12th grades. One 2026 graduate is going on to welding school.

Crystal Giles, Elite Hospice Volunteer Manager, also spoke to share the need for volunteers to go to nursing homes and visit patients. Giles stated that some patients do not have visitors and their health is affected by this loneliness, especially those in hospice. 

CCRTA is sponsoring the Channel 11 Cereal Drive again this year. It will be held Thursday, June 4, 2026, in front of Brookshire’s in Arkadelphia from 6:30 a.m. until noon. All breakfast items collected will be given to the Food Pantries in Clark County. 

The monthly donation went to the Men United Backpack Program. $265 was collected to help them provide school supplies.
