More than a dozen counties in South Arkansas were under a burn ban Tuesday, March 24, as the risk for wildfire has increased across much of the state.
The northern half of the state, where more than 20 counties are under a burn ban, is now under a High risk of wildfire danger, according to the latest Arkansas Forestry Division map of wildfire danger and burn bans.
The southern half of the state remains under a Moderate Risk. While outdoor burning remained legal in Clark County on Tuesday, neighboring Dallas and Ouachita counties were under a burn ban, along with other counties in the southwestern corner of the state. County judges issue burn bans.
