The Southern Standard: Glenwood deputy sentenced for stealing department-issued guns

By JOE MAY | The Southern Standard

A former Pike County sheriff’s deputy pleaded guilty in circuit court to two counts of theft after he pawned two guns belonging to the Pike County Sheriff’s Office.

Brandon M. Vines, 42, of Glenwood, was sentenced to 72 months probation and 45 days in the Pike County Jail after pleading guilty to theft of property and theft of a firearm.

According to an Arkansas State Police affidavit, Vines was a deputy from May 2024 until Dec. 30, 2025. During that time he was assigned a shotgun and an AR rifle. When he left the department, he returned everything but the guns, stating that they needed cleaning.

Later, Glenwood Police Chief Greg Harmon found one of the guns in a pawn shop. The other weapon had been pawned to a private individual in town.
