A Donaldson man is facing numerous felony charges stemming from what Hot Spring County authorities are calling a “welfare-related investigation.”
David Alexander Stafford, 32, was arrested Saturday, March 14, 2026, when deputies with the Hot Spring County Sheriff’s Office responded to a residence for a welfare check, Sheriff Richard Tolleson said in a news release.
As a result of the subsequent investigation, Stafford was booked on charges including kidnapping, intimidating a witness, 1st degree terroristic threatening, 1st degree endangering the welfare of a minor and violation of a no-contact order.
Bond was set at $1 million, with electronic monitoring ordered in the event of release. Additional bond-related proceedings may occur in other pending matters as determined by the court.
Authorities would not comment further, saying the matter remains an active criminal case.
Stafford was named as a suspect in a Clark County Sheriff’s Office incident report filed in February. According to the report, deputies responded to a residence outside the city limits of Arkadelphia for a possible domestic disturbance. Contact was made with Stafford, but no arrest was made. A female was advised of how to obtain a no-contact order with the prosecutor’s office.
