Editorial: Arkadelphia businessman Percy Malone plans new hometown pharmacy

Former Senator Percy Malone has once again stepped up to provide the citizens of Arkadelphia and Clark County with just the prescription for all of our ailments. As reported by The Arkadelphian on Friday, Jan. 9, the distinguished Sen. Malone has purchased the former Sears building.

We have since learned, in a phone interview with Mr. Malone, that he has plans for a future project: a truly hometown pharmacy — the only one in our fine city that will be locally owned and operated. Although a bitter pill for a select few to swallow, Sen. Malone lovingly assured us that the project was for the benefit of our fine citizens.

This truly innovative idea is what Arkadelphians have come to expect from the former senator whose past endeavors have included the 2025 Commission after the 1997 Tornado; the purchase and renovation of the 500 block of Main Street; the purchase and renovation of the former US Bank building on Main Street; and the acquisition of local Allcare Pharmacy locations by the Walgreens Corporation.

Asked when the citizenry of Clark County can expect this fine establishment to open its doors for business, Sen. Malone didn’t have a timeframe, but did assure us that the pharmacy will help him afford continual contributions to the causes that need financial support in Clark County.

We eagerly await the opening of the new hometown pharmacy, as well as other new developments from the senator. As always, the Honorable Percy Malone puts aside his own personal agenda to ensure Clark County’s continual success. Although some of our readers may not have the most positive of opinions of the project, we encourage you to set those aside and see what develops. If nothing else, they say a spoonful of sugar helps it go down easier!
