Witness catches thieves, helps police crack case of vehicle burglaries

A watchful resident awake in the early morning hours helped point police in the direction of suspects accused of a rash of vehicle burglaries in Arkadelphia.

Prosecutors are charging at least two of the four men police suspect had involvement in the thefts that occurred during the pre-dawn hours between Nov. 7-10, 2025. Tyshawn Eddie Thompson, 19, of Little Rock, and Kevin Dewayne Williams Jr., 18, of Mabelvale, were arrested following an investigation into the theft complaints.

The Arkadelphia Police Department was called to Millcreek Apartments, 1647 Welch St., at 3:19 a.m. on Monday, Nov. 10, 2025. According to court files made public this week, the caller phoned police when, from her balcony, she saw a pair of black-clad individuals opening vehicle doors in the parking lot below. The duo reportedly fled into the woods when she yelled at them.

Two days before, APD had responded to Matt Stone Apartments, 1817 Millcreek Dr., where several tenants filed complaints of overnight thefts from vehicles. Among the items reported stolen there were cash, change, prescription medication, and two pistols and their accessories.

The first officer to arrive at Millcreek Apartments observed a person matching the caller’s description of the suspects. Upon seeing the police vehicle, he hid behind a Dumpster, and ultimately fled into the wooded area between Mill Creek Apartments and Feaster Trail. An initial search was fruitless.

The caller pointed another officer to a vehicle where she had last seen one of the suspects, and as the officer approached another tenant advised the suspect was crouched in the back seat. He would tell police that he was given a ride to the apartment complex, and that the driver had gone inside one of the apartments. That suspect was detained and booked into the Clark County Detention Center, although to date no formal charges have been filed against him.

Police were waiting for a tow truck to haul away that vehicle when, out from the woods of the nearby Feaster Trail, Williams and Thompson appeared. Thompson said the car belonged to him, and Williams added that his phone was in the back seat. Asked where they had come from, Thompson reportedly replied that he was a YouTuber and had been filming near the complex, losing his phone in Mill Creek, which is parallel to Feaster Trail.

Police searched the vehicle, finding a rifle in the trunk. Officers also searched Feaster Trail and found three $1 bills and a college student ID bearing Williams’ name.

An officer encountered a fourth suspect walking north on 15th Street near the area of the break-ins, taking note of the “fresh scratches” on his legs, as well as broken twigs and leaves on his clothing and hair. While he is named in the police affidavit, there is no record of him being booked into the county jail.

A search warrant executed Nov. 10 on the vehicle led to the discovery of the firearms reported stolen at Matt Stone Apartments. In interviews with investigators, both Williams and Thompson admitted their involvement in the thefts, additionally owning up to the theft of a rifle stolen from a vehicle parked at a residence on Village Drive — a rifle police would later verify as stolen from its owner.

Both Thompson and Williams face a felony charge of Breaking or Entering. Thompson faces an additional felony charge of Theft of a Firearm, and Williams faces a misdemeanor charge of Theft of Property.
