Camden teen arrested for fatal shooting of girlfriend

A Camden teenager has been arrested in connection with a fatal October shooting of his girlfriend, Arkansas State Police have announced.

Special agents arrested 17-year-old Makya McClain on Oct. 21 on police charges of First-Degree Murder and Tampering with Physical Evidence in connection with the death of Mimaria Wilson, 22, of Camden.

On the evening of Oct. 19, 2025, officers with the Camden Police Department responded to a reported shooting at an apartment on Fort Lookout Manor, where they found Wilson suffering from an apparent gunshot wound. Wilson succumbed to the injury despite life-saving efforts.

Following the incident, Camden detectives requested assistance from ASP’s Criminal Investigation Division.

After his arrest, McClain was transported to the Jack Jones Juvenile Detention Facility in Pine Bluff for booking.

The Camden News reported that McClain and Wilson were romantically involved.
