The City of Arkadelphia Parks and Recreation Department has completed construction of four new outdoor pickleball courts at Feaster Park.
The courts are located on the former site of Feaster Field #1, which had become unplayable due to drainage issues. Repurposing the space provided an opportunity to expand recreational options for the community.
“Feaster Park holds so much history for our community,” said Parks and Recreation Director Stuart Tapson. “We are grateful for the opportunity to repurpose Field #1 and create another free recreational option for residents.”
Pickleball has become one of the most popular activities offered by the Recreation Center, often filling the gym with players. “Every day, dozens of people come to the Recreation Center to play pickleball, and ultimately, their needs outgrew the gym,” Tapson said. “These outdoor courts provide our residents with the space they need to enjoy the sport they love.”
The $155,000 capital improvement project included site preparation, contract costs, concrete work, painting, and fence installation. The courts were originally scheduled for completion in 2025, but weather and other delays extended the timeline into 2026.
Today, Feaster Park features outdoor pickleball courts, outdoor basketball courts, two playgrounds, a turf baseball/softball field, and a skate park. Soon, the park will offer two additional baseball/softball fields once the rehabilitation of Fields #3 and #4 are complete.
