Austin Hunter, who was involved in a 2022 wreck at the intersection of North Vine Street and U.S. 82 in Magnolia that left a Rosston woman dead, pleaded guilty of manslaughter on Thursday, March 20, 2025.
Hunter, 27, received no jail time. He was sentenced to 10 years of probation and won’t be able to possess a commercial driver’s license unless a court changes that condition at a later date.
The wreck killed Shana Farrer, 53, who was an assistant supervisor at a Dollar General store in Magnolia. She is survived by her longtime husband, who was her high school sweetheart, and a son and a daughter.
Lawyer Gary McDonald of El Dorado filled in for deputy state prosecutor Ryan Rainwater on the cases in Columbia County Circuit Court on Thursday morning. He said Hunter was offered a manslaughter charge because of several issues, but did not explain them in open court.
