As of Nov. 1, 2024, there were 331 people listed as Clark County inmates by the Arkansas Department of Corrections website.
There are six more Clark County inmates since October. The inmates are distributed among several institutions throughout the state.
There are 22 Clark County inmates serving life sentences or life without parole.
The total includes 309 men and 22 woman. There are 165 black inmates, 161 white inmates and five of other races.
The following Clark County inmates have a parole- or transfer-eligible date in November 2024, although there are several factors that could affect any individual release for months or years.
William Joseph Archer, 36, is serving a 12-year sentence at the Ester Unit. Archer’s most recent conviction, out of Faulkner County, was for failure to register as a sex offender. Archer has prior convictions in Clark County: residential burglary (2009), sexual assault, domestic battery (2012), forgery (2019) and failure to register (2019). Archer’s parole eligibility was delayed for a year during a hearing earlier in 2024.
Tristin Daniel, 28, is serving 8 years at Varner Supermax in Gould for a 2019 conviction of aggravated robbery. On the night of April 8, 2019, Daniel, armed with a “deadly weapon” and handing a clerk a note regarding his intentions, robbed the Tiger Mart Exxon station at 10th and Pine streets. Following the robbery, Daniel fled on foot toward his College Inn residence, where police were already awaiting his arrival, then attempted to flee from officers. Daniel’s parole was deferred during a 2024 hearing.
Wayne Poland, 81, is serving a 25-year sentence at the Ouachita River Correctional Unit in Malvern for convictions of rape, failure to appear and possession of sexually explicit material involving children. CLICK HERE for more information about Poland’s case.
Patrick Shields, 50, is serving 3 years at the Ouachita River Correctional Facility. Shields was sentenced in July 2024 for a conviction of methamphetamine delivery. Shields, along with co-defendant Candace Accor, was the target of a September 2022 narcotics sting by the Gurdon Marshal’s Office. His arrest was the result of a controlled buy through the use of a police informant.
