Highway 270 collision kills 2, hurts 2 from Sheridan

A two-vehicle collision Tuesday on U.S. Highway 270 in White Hall (Jefferson County) left two Sheridan residents dead and two others injured

The accident happened near the highway’s intersection with Ashley Road. According to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary, Sheridan resident Angel Hatten was traveling westbound in a 2008 Chevrolet and crossed the center line, colliding head-on with a 2017 Ford. Hatten, 46, and a juvenile were pronounced deceased at the scene by Jefferson County Coroner Chad Kelley.

The driver and passenger of the Ford, identified as Stephanie Hinkle, 31, and a juvenile, also from Sheridan, were transported to UAMS hospital for injuries.

The accident happened at 5:38 p.m. Dec. 12, 2023, under clear skies and on dry roads, according to investigating Cpl. Marlon D. Briggs.
