Murfreesboro crash claims life of Delight woman

A Delight woman was killed in a head-on collision in Murfreesboro that left 2 others injured

Felicia Lee Summers, 57, of Delight, was pronounced dead at the scene on state Highway 26 near its junction with Harris Road.

Summers was traveling east in a 2010 Toyota Prius when a westbound 2009 Honda CR-V crossed the center line into Summers’ path, according to an Arkansas State Police preliminary fatal crash summary.

The report lists the Honda driver as 42-year-old Sarah L. Cox, of Nashville, and notes that she was partially ejected through the driver’s side window in the collision.

Summers was pronounced deceased at the scene by Pike County Coroner Dawn Friedman. Cox was transported to UAMS hospital, while an underaged passenger of Summers’ vehicle was transported to Arkansas Children’s Hospital.

Summers’ body was taken to Welch Funeral Home in Arkadelphia.

The accident happened at 2:25 p.m. Tuesday, Sept. 19, 2023, under clear skies and on dry roads, according to investigating Cpl. Ryan Wingo.
