A 911 call at 1:39 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 17, summoned the Arkadelphia Fire Department to a home at 1206 O’Connell St.
The home, which had been vacant for several months but still had utilities connected, was fully engulfed by the time firefighters arrived at the scene. Mutual aid was requested of the Caddo Valley and DeGray fire departments.
No one was inside the burning home, officials confirmed. The home was a total loss.
Arkadelphia Fire Chief Jason Hunt and a fire investigator returned to the charred home Monday morning to look for clues as to what started the fire.
As standard procedure for when a vacant building catches fire, the Arkadelphia Police Department opened an investigation of arson at that address, Police Chief Jason “Shorty” Jackson said.
